The parking lot off of West Grand Avenue, near Fin’s BarGrill Restaurant, is a convenient location for those who wish to walk to the beach. Visitors may take advantage of a boardwalk that leads to the beach as well as public bathrooms. Each car entering the beach will be charged $5.00 for a day permit. Motor vehicles can reach the beach at the end of West Grand Avenue in Grover Beach, which is located at the end of West Grand Avenue. On the beach, the speed restriction is 15 miles per hour. Those traveling to the beach in four-wheel drive cars are highly advised to adhere to this recommendation.

Campfires are permitted on the beach, however they must be no larger than three feet in diameter and two feet in height in order to be permitted.

At both the Pismo Dune Preserve and Oso Flaco Lake, dogs are not permitted to accompany their owners.

Camping

All camping reservations must be made online atReserve Californiaor by phone at 1-800-444-7275 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time at Reserve California (PT). It is necessary to make reservations during the peak season and on holiday weekends. It is possible to make reservations up to six (6) months in advance; however, reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the day of arrival. Per campground, a maximum of two (2) legal vehicles (including motorbikes, trailers, and recreational vehicles) are permitted.

• Time for check-out is noon, and time for check-in is 2pm.
• Pismo State Beach is a popular destination for families.
• Fee-based RV Dump stations are placed within the entrance to the North Beach Campground and on Le Sege Drive, near the dirt parking lot at the Grande Avenue entry to the Oceano Dunes SVRA.
• A $10 dump charge is required to be paid by credit card in addition to the camping cost; the dump fee is not included in the campsite price.
• The Camping Information Website has further information regarding camping in California State Parks, including cancellation and change policies.
• There are no hook-ups offered at this campground, so bring your own.
• Pismo State Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove is located near the campsite and may be accessed from there.
• Ranger Programs and Campfire Programs for children and adults.

At Pismo State Beach, children between the ages of 7 and 12 are welcome to join Jr. Rangers! Join our Interpretive Park Rangers for a variety of fun activities while learning about the great outdoors! You will receive a logbook and a badge when you participate in your first Junior Ranger program. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., programs are held in the Oceano Campground Campfire Center and the North Beach Campfire Center, as well as other locations.

North Beach Campground- Best Tent-Camping in Pismo Beach – Review of Pismo State Beach North Beach Campground, Pismo Beach, CA – Tripadvisor

The North Beach Campground is a hidden gem located just off State Route 1, just south of the town of Pismo Beach. It is the nicest spot in the entire area for tent camping and is accessible only by car. Because the park is mixed-use, you’ll see RVs and huge trailers here as well, but some of the campsites here are ideal for tent campers because they have grass and shade! Because there are no RV hookups at the campsites, some generator noise might be expected, but we were never troubled by it at all.

• They even have paid hot showers that are operated by tokens!
• Because the campsite is directly next to Highway 1 and near to railroad lines, we did hear some traffic and train noise, but it was never a nuisance to us.
• They have extremely inefficient reservation procedures, both online and by phone, which we found to be really frustrating!
• The North Beach Campground is a hidden gem located just off State Route 1, just south of the town of Pismo Beach.
• Because the park is mixed-use, you’ll see RVs and huge trailers here as well, but some of the campsites here are ideal for tent campers because they have grass and shade!
• This campsite also receives extra points for its immaculate restrooms, which have flush toilets and plenty of toilet paper, as well as hot-water basins for washing up after a meal.
• (For one dollar, you can get four minutes of hot water; that’s a wonderful deal in a drought!) Some things to keep an eye out for, on the other hand, are as follows: Because there are no electrical outlets accessible, we were forced to charge our cameraphones while driving.
• Finally, the most important item to keep an eye out for is not the campsite itself, but rather Reserve America, the outside firm who handles camping bookings for the State Park.

California Beach Camping – Jalama Beach

Jalama Beach is a secluded, hidden gem that lies off the main path. It is also well-known for its excellent surfing, wind sports, and large, walking beaches, all of which are found here. As far as I know, it’s the only public beach in California where you can drive (four wheel drive is recommended), and it’s also the only beach in California where you can camp directly on the sand. Not near to the beach, not in sight of the beach, not even a short walk to the beach, but literally on the beach!

Located in the heart of the action! The dunes are quite popular with off-roaders, and the 1000 camping places available on weekends fill up quickly. We need to clear up some misconceptions over the names “Oceano” and “Pismo” before we can get any farther with this discussion.

• The Oceano Dunes SVRA was once known as “Pismo Dunes” until it was renamed. The location is still shown as “Pismo Dunes” on Google Maps. These locations are identical
• There is a “Pismo State Beach” that borders the northern edge of the Oceano Dunes and runs parallel to the coast. There are two campsites in the Pismo Beach SB – the North Beach campground and the “Oceano” campground. They are not the same area. These are lovely built campsites, but they are not the same as Oceano Dunes, where camping is available right on the beach.

California Beach Camping – Montana de Oro State Park

Montana de Oro State Park is one of the largest and most diversified of California’s state parks, and it is also one of the most beautiful. California Beach Camping – Morro Strand State Beach

A short distance away from the shore, this campground is located north ofMorro Bay and theMorro Rock area. There are 76 campsites available with limited amenities in this area (no hookups and no showers). As a result of the state’s fiscal difficulties, MorroStrand State Park was planned to close on July 1, which would have resulted in the closure of all California State Parks. Some state parks have found answers through collaborations with private organizations, but I am not aware of any such strategy being developed in this area.

The California State Parks Department has millions stashed away in secret vaults that no one else was aware of.

The state has said that access to the “closed” parks will remain open, but that services like as garbage collection and sanitation would be phased out.

In light of the fact that there wasn’t much here to begin with, it would be feasible if you had a self-contained unit 24 feet or less (which is the length restriction here), but it is not an ideal strategy if you are tent camping. Reservations may be made and contact information can be found here.

California Beach Camping – Hearst San Simeon State Park

A few miles north of Cambria on Highway 1, the San Simeon Creek campsite is accessible by car or on foot. There is pedestrian access to the beach beneath the viaduct that spans the stream. This campground includes more than 115 spaces, with a maximum RV length of 35 feet. The campsite does not have any connections, but it does have flush toilets, coin-operated showers, and waterspigots located throughout the grounds. There is a basic campsite (Washburn campground), however it is a mile away from the beach and not recommended.

California Beach Camping – Limekiln State Park

The beach campsite is located in the center of Big Sur and is called for the large kilns that are still in operation nearby, which used to generate lime for use in the manufacture of concrete. There are 28 campsites available (maximum RV length is 24′; maximum trailer length is 15′) and they are nestled away amid the redwoods while yet being only a few yards from the beach. This is typical of the scenery you’ll see along the Big Sur coastline. Reservations may be made and contact information can be found here.

The Oceano Memorial Park in San Luis Obispo County serves as a campsite for the residents of the county. In close proximity to the county airport, the park may be found along Air Park Drive, just south of Pier Avenue. They have a total of 22 campsites. Depending on the size, each may accommodate between 4 and 6 people as well as an RV (up to 40 feet long) or a handful of tents. Please be advised this is a Non-Smoking campground, including wood, pellets or dura flame. Tent/car/van camping is not allowed in RV sites. Must be in a fully self-contained vehicle meant for RV camping.
