PFI Western Store founder says it’s been a ‘helluva ride’ after selling to Cavender’s
- Randy Little, the creator of PFI Western Store, is experiencing a bittersweet moment. The PFI Western Store, which was the home of BootDaddy for almost 50 years, was sold to Cavender’s, a western clothing franchise that was established in 1965. The company that owns more than 90 stores took over the company on Monday. A phone chat with Little revealed that she does not feel her age. “I feel 50, but I’m not,” she stated. “I simply felt that was appropriate at the time, you know? When you begin to consider getting off the bus, it will eventually become necessary to do so.” Preferred Farmers Incorporated, the company that founded PFI Western Store, began selling feed on the west side of town in 1975. Little began by demolishing the walls of his initial building in order to expand before purchasing the merchandise from a western store in the area. They also ventured into the catalog sector, sending over 8 million catalogs every year across the country. “It is a blessing in and of itself when you are able to develop a business like we have in the Ozarks,” Little expressed gratitude for the opportunity. Little purchased a forested parcel of land at Highway 65 and Battlefield in the early 1990s, which is still the site of the shop today. “Everyone thought I’d lost my mind since I was out there by myself,” Little recalled of his experience. “So, I’m all alone in the world’s loneliest store, and I’m quite sure I’ve lost my mind. Looking back, I’m not sure I’d have the courage to do it again, but I’m glad I did it since it was an amazing experience. I’m hoping that the Cavenders will be able to keep the dream alive.” More news from the area: Here are some tips for being safe on Halloween: Highway patrol officers in Missouri and the American Red Cross have provided advice. Over the years, the business has hosted events such as Party in the Parking Lot and the Professional Bull Riders, or PBR, who have performed at JQH Arena for the past decade years, among other things. PFI Western Store collected $308,000 for two charitable organizations on Sept. 23, the day Little signed the letters of intent to sell the store. The organizations are the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch and Protect the Harvest. “This community has been kind to us, and we feel like we’ve been able to give back as a result,” Little said. PFI’s employees will continue to work for Cavender’s, and Little expressed hope that Cavender’s will be able to expand the PFI name and BootDaddy brand even further. “You have to take a step back from your business from time to time in order for it to continue to thrive,” he stated. “I didn’t have the necessary skills to run many businesses at the time. We did quite well in the one that we are now attending.” In addition, Little stated that “we haven’t seen a reduction in sales while we’ve been there.” “We were able to make it through the recession. We got it through COVID with flying colors, and we’ve seen gains year after year.” More news from the area: Springfield’s ‘Community Focus’ report for 2021 has been out, and it praises teamwork while asking for citizen participation. According to Little, the PFI name will remain in use until the beginning of the year. Little’s days of traveling to the market aren’t finished yet, but he says he is already looking forward to spending more time on his farm in west Republic and growing cattle. He also expects to devote more time to his duties as a commissioner on the board of directors of the Missouri State Fair. “I want to sit back and relax for at least a week and take a holiday,” Little expressed his desire for a getaway. “It’s been a helluva trip,” says the author. PFI 70% Off Promo Codes February 2022, Coupons 2022
Randy Little, the creator of PFI Western Store, is in the midst of a bittersweet transition. Cavender’s, a western clothing franchise that was started in 1965, purchased PFI Western Store from Little after nearly 50 years in business. Mon, the chain of over 90 stores officially became its own. A phone chat with Little revealed that she does not feel her age. “I feel 50, but I am not,” she stated. “To be honest, I just felt it was about time. When you start to consider getting off the bus, it’s time to really get off the bus at some point.” It all began as Preferred Farmers Incorporated, a feed company that sold feed on the west side of town in 1975.

- If I had to do it all over again, I’m not sure I would have the courage to do so, but I’m glad I did.
- Highway patrol officers in Missouri and the American Red Cross have provided some helpful advice.
- It was on Sept.
- In Little’s words, “this community has been nice to us, and we feel like we’ve been giving back as well.” Associates from PFI will continue to work for Cavender’s, and Little expressed hope that Cavender’s will be able to expand the PFI name and BootDaddy brand in the years to come.
- “Multiple stores were out of my reach since I lacked the necessary skill set.
- Despite the difficulties, we made it through COVID and saw increases each and every year after that.” More news from the region: Inaugural presentation of Springfield’s 2021 ‘Community Focus’ report, which praises teamwork while expressing hope for increased citizen participation.
- Despite the fact that Little’s days of traveling to the market aren’t finished yet, he says he is looking forward to spending more time on his farm in west Republic and growing cattle in his spare time.
- I want to be able to sit back and relax for at least a week, therefore I’m planning a trip.” A tremendous journey, to put it mildly.

In order to sell to Cavender’s ninety-plus shop network, PFI Western Store, which is the home of BootDaddy, has entered into an arrangement. The partnership, which became official on October 25, brings two renowned western shops together at the intersection of U.S. 65 and Battlefield Road in Springfield. “We are happy to be connected with Randy Little and the Little family, who have had such a long and illustrious history in the western wear industry,” said Mike Cavender. “With the assistance of a very kind and compassionate community, we have been able to expand PFI for more than 46 years.
‘The Cavenders are people we’ve known for a long time.
Joe, Mike, and Clay Cavender are all ecstatic with their new home, and so are we. Adding a renowned western shop to the Cavender’s network will allow the company to better serve its current PFI customers as well as all of the wonderful visitors that visit the Ozarks, according to Joe Cavender.
About PFI Western Store/Home of Boot Daddy
It’s been 46 years since PFI Western Store opened its doors in the center of the United States, where it sells boots, western wear, saddles, and tack to customers all around the country. As a commercial animal feed and farm supply business, Preferred Farmers Incorporated first opened its doors in 1975. The couple expanded their business by purchasing the Western wear apparel store next door, where they rapidly found success selling western-inspired designs. Eventually, the feed bins were removed and replaced with additional clothes racks.
Randy, Johnelle, and their incredible Associates worked tirelessly over the next four decades to build their company around their clients and grow PFI into a strong force in the world of Western fashion design.
For example, the in-store immersive experience at PFI, which is known for its extensive range of over 24,000 pairs of boots, Big Spur Hat Co., where hats are custom-fitted and blocked for clients, and Saddle City, which has over 300 saddles on display, are all examples of this.
