  1. His possessions are numerous, and he possesses the entire world’s wealth. His coffers are brimming with rubies and diamonds, silver and gold, and he possesses limitless riches
  2. Nonetheless,
  • In the chorus, I say, “I’m a kid of the King, A child of the King:” I am a child of the King because of Jesus, my Savior
  1. ‘My Father’s own Son, the Savior of humanity, once roamed the world in poverty, but now He is pleading our forgiveness from on high, so we may be His when He returns by and by.’ I used to be an outcast stranger on this planet, a sinner by choice and an alien by birth, but I’ve been adopted, and my name has been written down, and I’m now the heir to a house, a robe, and a crown, but I’m still an outcast stranger on this planet. What does it matter if it’s a tent or a cottage? Over there, they’re putting up a castle for me. Despite the fact that I am banished from my homeland, I may still sing: “All praise to God, I am a child of the King.”

Hymn: My Father is rich in houses and lands

1 My Father is rich in houses and lands, He holdeth the wealth of the world in His hands! Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold, His coffers are full, He has riches untold.
I’m a child of the King, A child of the King: With Jesus my Savior,I’m a child of the King.
2 My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men, Once wandered on earth as the poorest of them. But now He is pleading our pardon on high, That we may be His when He comes by and by.
I’m a child of the King, A child of the King: With Jesus my Savior,I’m a child of the King.
3 I once was an out-cast stranger on earth, A sinner by choice, and an alien by birth; But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down, An heir of salvation, the kingdom and crown.
I’m a child of the King, A child of the King: With Jesus my Savior,I’m a child of the King.
4 Though poor on this earth, oh, why should I care? Since glorious things for me God doth prepare; Though trials abound, yet, still I may sing: All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.
I’m a child of the King, A child of the King: With Jesus my Savior,I’m a child of the King.

“A tent or a cottage, why should I care! They’re building a mansion for me over there!”

Sharon, my wife, and I came to the conclusion that we needed to downsize. As of the first of July, we had sold a much larger home situated on a huge lot in the country and were looking for land in Waxahachie, TX, close to Southwestern Assemblies of God University, where I’ve worked for more than 30 years. While our home was being developed and built, we relocated to Regent flats at the University — a small apartment of less than 700 square feet that was designated for student housing. A microwave/convection combo and a two-burner hotplate are the only things on the table.

  1. I’ve grumbled a little, been annoyed a few times, and suffered from “cabin fever” a few times.
  2. We are very excited!
  3. it’s really great!
  4. I’m not joking!
  5. ” We become tired of our current bodies, and we yearn to be clothed in our heavenly bodies.
  6. … While we are confined to these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it is not because we wish to die and be free of the bodies that provide us with clothing.
  7. God himself has prepared us for this, and he has provided us with his Holy Spirit as a guarantee of what is to come.
  8. In fact, we are completely secure in our abilities, and we would prefer to be removed from these earthly bodies since we shall then be at home with the Lord.
  9. (From 2 Corinthians 5:1–9 in the New International Version) So here’s what I scribbled down in my Bible this morning.
  10. ” I may become dissatisfied with the events of life from time to time, but this house is only for a short period!
  11. The wait will be well worth it!

A Tent Or A Cottage « PresbyCan Daily Devotional

In Romans 8:17a, it says that if God has made us children, then we are also heirs — both as heirs of God and as co-heirs with Christ. (NIV) Despite the fact that I’ve spent countless hours in nature, I can’t claim that I’ve done much camping in my adult life. Despite the fact that he adored vacations at the cottage, my husband had no desire to spend the night in a tent when on the road. However, when our daughters were little, my mother-in-law volunteered to keep the children for a week if we wanted to take a week off to get away from the kids.

  • The notion of tenting occurred to us after a long period of thought.
  • As soon as our friends heard about our plans, they offered to lend us their camping equipment, so we loaded up our car and drove to New Hampshire and Vermont.
  • “This might be interesting,” we agreed.
  • Despite the fact that we didn’t know them, the folks greeted us cordially and we immediately identified them as brothers and sisters in Christ.

An unexpected boom of thunder broke our sense of security. The heavens opened, and the rain began to pour down. I could hear the song leader announcing the next hymn, but the last lyric had a new meaning for my husband and me because of the thunder and lightning that had just passed through.

  • What does it matter if it’s a tent or a cottage? Over there, they’re putting up a castle for me.
  • “A Child of the King,” written by Harriet E. Buell, is the title of the song.

Our wonderful certainty that God is in charge is provided by the fact that we are children of the King of kings, no matter what storms come our way in our everyday life. Praise and Worship:Dear God, please bring to our attention how much You have loved us, how much you care about us, and how You are in command of our everyday life. Amen. Depending on the family and the child, the appropriate time to give them their own tent will be different for each one. Due to the fact that children age at varying speeds, it is crucial to be honest about where your kid is in terms of independence and self-direction, and how comfortable you are as a parent with allowing them to “go” in this new way with their life. The first and most important aspect is the child’s safety. In order to tent alone, they must be able to depart a tent at night without assistance and understand how to seek aid from their parents if necessary.

  • They must also be mature enough to understand that they should not be allowed to perform activities such as starting a campfire, lighting a stove, or preparing a meal without adult supervision while you are still in your tent and asleep.
  • They must be able to perform their daily “maintenance” activities within the tent, such as getting clothed, putting out their sleeping bag, using a lantern or headlamp, and performing other regular tasks as needed.
  • Is it necessary for them to be supervised by an adult in order to behave correctly when camping?
  • If you spend the entire night worrying about whether or not your child is safe in their own tent, it will not make for a nice camping trip for you.
  • When you do this, you create an atmosphere in which both the kid and parent may become accustomed to the concept of being in different tents.
  • Now they often camp on their own—and, as with so many aspects of parenting, it is both gratifying and heartbreaking to see them grow up and no longer rely on their father as much as they once did.

Critical Considerations for Children

Finding a tent with enough space for a child is one of the most important factors when selecting the proper one for them. It may seem paradoxical that a tiny human being would require more space than an adult, but smaller humans move more in general, wriggle more while sleeping, and stretch out to occupy more space, so bear this in mind when selecting a tent or sleeping bag. Having enough space to change and dress comfortably, as well as to slip into a sleeping bag, will contribute to their overall contentment when tenting.

  • Zippers should be smooth and of good quality in order to function properly.
  • Choose a tent that is simple to erect and takes up little space.
  • Look for a tent with a basic pole design and a body that attaches to the poles with velcro or clips.
  • Because kids might have a joy building up a tent in the living room or backyard, it’s important to remember that the tent can be used for a variety of purposes other than camping.

Choosing a tent with exciting features such as gear pockets, large windows, and a large number of doors will increase your child’s enjoyment of the tent.

Tent Care for Kids

It goes hand in hand with the joy of using a tent comes the obligation to properly maintain it. For example, I highlighted to my children two important tent-care rules: no shoes in the tent and adequate preparation for storing the tent at the conclusion of a trip when they returned. While walking through the tent tracks, you’ll come across various types of muck and rubbish on the ground. Moving microscopic bits of dirt, rock, and sand into the tent fabric can cause harm to the tent itself as well as reduce the tent’s ability to repel water.

In this way, it is prevented from mildewing or smelling bad.

This decreases the likelihood of messes and reduces the attraction of the area to insects, rats, and bears.

Crua Cottage

Cottage on Crua Island. Another instant favorite, this time with a twist. This tent incorporates all of the fantastic features that we provide in all of our tents, as well as some new ones. We’ve added a unique twist to the traditional vis-a-vis tent. What exactly does the term “vis-à-vis” mean? The identical question was posed to us. Essentially, it refers to two bedrooms that are on opposite sides of the house and face each other. That said, one of the most impressive features of this tent is the RV hookup that is conveniently located at the front of the tent.

  1. It has two 4 season insulated bedrooms that are adjacent to each other, as well as a huge living space that connects the two bedrooms in the middle.
  2. Open the door to take advantage of everything that nature has to offer.
  3. This is a tent that has been designed for individuals of all ages.
  4. Several benefits of purchasing from Crua, the tent specialists Payment is completely safe and secure.
  5. Payment options for financing are flexible.
  6. We do, however, adhere to a policy of continual improvement in our operations.

Why Should You Care About Planning Greener Meetings? – Cottage Tent Event

Green meetings and environmentally friendly solutions to incorporate into events have been around for quite some time. Although many event planners are aware of the need, they haven’t included it on their already overburdened to-do list. Perhaps they are apprehensive about the (possible) expenditures associated with making their events “green,” or they just do not know where to begin. As a result, this blog season will be devoted to demonstrating how simple it is to move your event planning in a more environmentally friendly direction.

So it’s best to jump on board right now and see what benefits this will offer you!

What are Green Events?

You become more ecologically concerned of the negative influence of your meeting or conference on the environment when you make it “green,” and you begin implementing behaviors that utilize less resources and decrease waste when you make it “green.” When you consider the huge amount of logistics that goes into event preparation, as well as the sheer number of meetings that take place throughout the world, it becomes clear just how big the influence of the meetings sector is on the environment.

The following are the most important aspects of event design that may considerably minimize your energy use, resource consumption, and waste:

  1. A venue that is favorable to the environment
  2. Food and beverage alternatives that are available locally and in quantity
  3. Digital communication as well as shared transportation solutions are available.

Everyone who has produced or attended events in the past has undoubtedly observed the massive quantity of garbage generated by the majority of them. According to meetgreen.com, the average amount of conference trash created by each participant is 1.89 kg per day, of which 1.16 kg will be disposed of in a landfill immediately (non-recycling waste dump). The 1.89 kg total includes not just food waste, but also other conference-related materials such as the agenda, handouts, and other materials.

of attendees xof meals / 2 = estimatedof kilogram

Consider the following scenario: a three-day conference with 300 attendees and three meals per day. 300 passengers times three meals divided by two is 450 kg each day. 450 kg multiplied by three days equals 1,350 kg of garbage for the whole meeting. It would take this much weight to equal the weight of a small automobile. Of course, there are food alternatives that provide lighter meals and make use of actual china and glassware rather than throwaway plates and cups, such as a salad bar. In this scenario, the previous formula can be modified by calculating just 0.25 kg instead of the whole 0.25 kg (divide by 4 instead of 2).

Up to 1 kg of trash per visitor every dinner may be calculated in this manner (remove division by 2).

Being aware of the waste produced by an event and beginning to take sustainable actions not only helps to reduce the negative environmental impact of the event, but it can also serve as an inspiration for event attendees and raise their awareness of innovative techniques that can be used to create an environmentally friendly meeting.

Set Yourself Apart from the Competition

“The intangible worth of experiences and connections established during meetings and events is becoming increasingly important across the world,” says the author. International Hotel Group (IHG) Vice President of Global Sales Strategy Jonathan Kaplan (2019) Improvements in the environmental effect of your event as a result of employing sustainable alternatives might be considered one of those intangible values because the impact may not be immediately seen to your attendees. However, the guests of today’s event are becoming increasingly concerned with social conscience and want you to make a positive contribution to reducing their carbon impact.

  • Positioning yourself correctly may also help you attract new guests who are enthusiastic about the sustainable approach and who will return to future events if you do it right.
  • If your carbon footprint is not zero, your consumers will not hold it against you; they just want to know that you are doing all in your power to reduce your carbon impact.
  • Share the reason why you are unable to address a specific requirement of theirs, and they will appreciate your candor and openness.
  • Organizing your activities in a more environmentally friendly manner will also reduce the likelihood of financial fines, negative feedback, and awkward queries.

Increase Your Event Reach

As previously said, using a sustainable approach to event design will help you attract new attendees who are concerned about participating in ecologically friendly activities. Aside from that, certain long-term strategies can expand the reach even further: for example, by providing live streaming of your event, someone who really wanted to attend but couldn’t because of travel distance or cost can now acquire a virtual ticket. Attendees will appreciate the simplicity and convenience that hybrid events (a combination of a “live” in-person event and a “virtual” internet component) provide them with.

And keeping your consumers satisfied will repay you with their loyalty and return visits in the future.

Save Money of Your Event Budget

In this day and age, I’m confident that many meeting planners still think increasing the sustainability of their event necessarily equals increasing the cost of the event. And, given the short event budgets that many of us are working with, why add another financial burden that doesn’t appear to be essential for the event’s fundamental purpose? Even while there are certain acts that will have an influence on your total expenditures if you want to pay off your carbon footprint, there are some actions that can actually save you money.

Positioning your conference as environmentally friendly may also help you recruit new sponsors and present novel ideas to entice sponsors who were previously uninterested in your event to become involved. Who wouldn’t want a little extra cash in their pocket?

Make Your First Step Towards Greener Event Planning

As a result of the foregoing, including “green” practices into your event planning no longer appears to be as intimidating or complicated. Furthermore, by being more ecologically friendly, your gathering will retain all of its luster. You don’t have to work as hard as you would think to make biodegradable balloons out of recycled paper, vegetable colors, or live plants. And if none of these behaviors appeal to you, consider the following alternatives:

  • Trip planning and transportation, location, catering, menus, printed materials, waste management and energy conservation measures, flowers and gift bags, and other promotional items are all included.

Analyze your situation and plan your initial course of action. Something as easy as going paperless, utilizing biodegradable cups, or employing environmentally friendly transportation will immediately have a positive influence on reducing the negative impact of your event. Keep in mind, however, that taking an environmentally conscious approach to event planning is not a one-time task that you can complete today and be done with for the remainder of the planning period. Effort must be made consciously, and it does not come naturally to all those engaged.

  • These should preferably not include only too junior colleagues since they may not have enough influence to persuade other stakeholders to become engaged, but they should also not include only too senior colleagues because this may result in things not getting done.
  • Take little steps, concentrate on one area at a time, and see how you progress over time.
  • Additionally, you will want energy in order to be patient and not lose sight of the entire event experience.
  • Ufff, this has been a lengthy discussion, and I hope you are not discouraged from joining in on the fun.
  • For those who do not want to wait, consider ways in which you may begin implementing the initial modifications right now.
  • Join the group of decision-makers who will have an effect on the globe for decades to come.

Children’s Programs

Summer camp will be held on the WHOI Quissett Campus as well as at the MBL Cottages, thanks to a collaboration between MBL, the YMCA Cape Cod, and WHOI. Supporting our working families has always been a top concern for the MBL, and it has taken on even more significance in light of the issues posed by COVID-19 and the resulting impact on the provision of child care and summer camps. Summer day camp for children aged 4 to 13 years will be conducted by the YMCA and will be approved by the Department of Public Health.

Camp will begin on Monday, June 21, and will conclude on Friday, August 27.

During the summer camp registration process, families will be able to sign up for one or more weeks of camp.

Each kid will be charged the following amount: A kid in the age range of 4-6 costs $330 a week (9 a.m.

to 4 p.m.).

Families who register for the program will receive a welcome packet that includes information such as: weekly payment, drop off/pick up location, parent handbook, list of items children should bring for a healthy camp experience (e.g.

medication, etc.) Our team is thrilled to be able to provide this summer camp opportunity to members of the MBL and WHOI communities.

Summer camp and child care services serve an important role in enabling our teachers and staff to perform at their highest levels in support of MBL’s goal of research and teaching. We are glad to collaborate with the YMCA and WHOI to provide a high-quality summer program.
