Chamber of commerce names home-care company its Small Business of the Year

CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS — As announced by the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce, a rapidly expanding home-care firm has been selected Small Business of the Year for 2015. Gaye and Jim Aaberg are the founders of Synergy HomeCare, a franchise that they founded in Bloomington-Normal in 2013 and have expanded throughout the Midwest. As a result of the rapid growth and the high volume of calls from people in the Champaign-Urbana area, Gaye Aaberg and her team expanded to Champaign in 2015, Decatur in 2017, and Springfield, where they expect to open on November 1.

  1. Synergy was selected by a committee that evaluates local firms in a variety of categories, according to Laura Weis, president and CEO of the chamber.
  2. However, as the process progressed, Synergy emerged as the clear winner.
  3. The non-medical home care provided by Synergy includes tasks such as moving patients to and from bed, aiding with bathing, and transporting patients to and from doctor’s visits.
  4. “We’ll go to church with them,” said the group.

“We conduct little housework and assist them with getting prepared if they are about to relocate.” Their ability to provide medical care is constrained; therefore, while they are unable to provide insulin injections, they can assist in reading a glucose monitor and reminding patients when to take prescriptions.

Starting a Synergy franchise was a personal endeavor for the couple, who had been caring for ill relatives in their own family in previous years.

As Aaberg put it, “You want to assist, but you don’t always have the skills to do so,” she added.

We learned about Synergy HomeCare, which was established in Arizona in 1999, and we felt we would be able to assist families with caring.

Neil St. According to Aaberg, its mission is to “assist individuals in maintaining independence and dignity in their homes, where they call home, for as long as they are able to do so.”
