Hello, Bryan. Thank you for responding so quickly. Everything, with the exception of Skype for Business, spins just as it should, and it does so in all apps except Skype for Business. Indeed, it is fully functional in Skype, but not in Skype for Business. When using Skype for business, the video spins on the LCD display and everything appears to be normal, except for the fact that what is transmitted to the other participants is 180 degrees out of alignment (or upside down). If I go into the Skype for Business settings and then into the video settings, I can see that the video is upside down, despite the fact that it seems OK on my LCD while I’m in a conference call, but the people on the other end see me in the incorrect orientation.

From a Macbook to a Dell: Why I Love The Dell XPS15 2 in 1

Pete Heck wrote the words and took the photographs. I made the transition from a Macbook to a Dell laptop. Purposely. And the fact is, I really like it. (cue gasps) (insert louder gasps)

Here’s the scoop.

Having been an Apple customer for the previous ten years (as far as computers are concerned, because I believe their phones are toys for children), I was disappointed to discover that it was only due of necessity that I was forced to switch. Given the fact that I was on the road all of the time, I needed a computer that was not only light and portable, but also trustworthy, secure, and capable of lasting for an extended period of time. Let’s be honest: in 2010, computers that ran on Windows were a disaster.

• The year was 2018, and I was in desperate need of a new computer.
• I accepted their offer.
• When I had my first glance at Windows 10, it was immediately clear that things had changed significantly.
• ), it’s evident that the operating system has learned from its mistakes and is now presenting itself as something robust.

To be completely honest, my work flow is rather straightforward, and the majority of my computer usage is divided into two categories: (1) internet use (browsing, online programs (such as Google Drive), and easy scripting, among other things), and (2) graphic design and photo editing (Adobe Creative Cloud).

And, after six months of use and three multi-leg aircraft travels, I’ve got enough experience with the gadget to be able to provide a fair appraisal of it.

What I like about the Dell XPS15 2 in 1

First and foremost, it has a 15-inch screen and weighs only 4.3 pounds (1.95kg). It’s really smaller and lighter than my old 13-inch Macbook, which is a significant improvement when you consider the amount of power it contains. With little problem, it will fit in my photographic equipment bag as well my lightweight carry sling.

Display

I recently updated to a 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) screen, and every time I turn it on, it completely takes my breath away. As a virtual borderless display, it allows you to get the most out of your screen space while maintaining nearly edge to edge clarity.

Images are lifelike and have a great deal of depth, and photos are razor crisp (supposedly there are over 16 million colors available). It should come as no surprise that it has provided a significant improvement and advantage in my photo editing.

Speed

Having had my fair share of hard drives fail on me in the past, I made the choice to go with a solid state drive this time around. The 8th Generation Intel® CoreTM i7-8705G Processor, in combination with the enhanced RAM (16GB), makes this computer extremely quick, in addition to providing excellent stability. After then, there is no more waiting because the computer boots up entirely in less than 5 seconds. I’ve also never had to wait for a software to load, and I’ve never seen a worm spin around in my life.

Touch Screen

Although I wasn’t sure how much I would rely on touch screens at first, I now find myself wondering what I would do without them. It’s great for scrolling and clicking on webpages, and it helps to increase workflow efficiency when compared to using the trackpad. Granted, while I’m at home with my wireless keyboard and mouse, I don’t use it nearly as much, but when I’m out and about or traveling, I use it constantly. The main disadvantage is that you have to wipe the screen significantly more frequently.

2 in 1 – Laptop and Tablet

When I’m traveling, the ability to switch to tablet mode and the ability to flip to tent mode to watch films or television is quite convenient. I find myself utilizing the Tablet mode for picture editing on a regular basis, in conjunction with the Dell (Wacom) pen (sold separately). Battery Life

In general, the battery life is good. On a busy day, with the display operating in 4K, I can get approximately 3-4 decent hours out of the battery, which is excellent. There aren’t many computers out there that can perform this task at this level of power consumption.

What I don’t really like about the Dell XPS15 2 in 1

It took me a long time to figure out what was wrong with this machine. And these are merely a few small things that I would have like to have been changed.

Port Configuration

The machine is equipped with four USB Type-C connectors (two Thunderbolt 3 and two USB-C 3.1). Sure, it’s sufficient for charging because it provides me the choice to charge on either side of the computer, but the lack of an HDMI connection is the thing that annoys me the most. It’s unfortunate to have to rely on a dongle in order to connect a conventional HDMI connection. In addition, the inclusion of the micro-SD slot is a puzzler. I appreciate that preserving space is a top issue, but if you’re going to put a port in the laptop, I would have chosen an SD port over a USB port or a FireWire port.

The Nostril Cam

Dell placed their webcam beneath the screen in order not to take up valuable screen real estate on the beautiful 15-inch display.

As a result, an unpleasant upward angle view is obtained, which extends well up into the nostrils. According to rumors, it will be put back to the top of the list for the new models.

Initial Setup

The initial setup, which included cleaning out and optimizing the system, was a bit of a bother. With the assistance of various Windows users, some web publications, and the uninstallation of some of the apps that came with the system (hello, McAfee), I have significantly improved the efficiency of the machine.

Overall

Overall, I’m quite satisfied and have returned to being a Microsoft Windows user again. The Dell XPS15 2 in 1 has worked admirably, and given the lower price of this machine when compared to the Mac, it is definitely worth considering if you are in the market for a new computer. To date, it has satisfied three out of four of my criteria: it is dependable, dependable, and secure. Last but not least, we’ll have to wait and see if it survives the test of time and continues to function as well as it has so far.

Dell Latitude 7320 2-in-1 Review

Elegant consumer computers such as theDell XPS 13are not frequently distributed to staff of major corporations. This occasionally causes difficulty among totters of huge, black, IT-approved ThinkPads who look enviously at the borderless 4K screens and sleek chassis of laptops that their bosses won’t allow them to use for business purposes. The Dell Latitude 7320 (starting at $1,559; $1,964 as tested) has been updated with a slew of creative and user-friendly features in order to quell the envious feelings.

It is available as a standard clamshell or as the 2-in-1 convertible shown here.

Four Degrees of Latitude

Dell’s current Latitude laptop series is offered in four flavors, each of which is available in a variety of screen sizes and form factors to suit your needs. The Latitude 3000 series is the most affordable, with prices starting at less than $700. The Latitude 9000, which belongs in the C-suite, is located on the other extreme of the spectrum. The Latitude 5000 and 7000 series fall somewhere in the middle. The Latitude 7000 is available in three different screen sizes: 13-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch, the first of which is the topic of this review.

Easy Component Access

Due to Dell’s flexibility to customise the Latitude 7320 with a dizzying number of component alternatives to fit practically any demand, this serviceability is actually only beneficial for diagnostics or upgrades (with the notable exception of a tight budget). There is no requirement to attach aftermarket components as soon as the box is opened. • It’s capable of handling practically any fundamental computer activity you throw at it, thanks to its ample 16GB of RAM and fast 256GB NVMe solid-state drive, both of which come standard.
• A Latitude with a Core i7 processor and a 512GB SSD costs only a few hundred dollars extra, however prices fluctuate regularly.

Even the entry-level Latitude 7320, which comes with a non-vPro Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, is a terrible deal at $1,559 when compared to other laptops in the same price range. A word of advice to those who buy in bulk: try to negotiate a price.

A Nifty, Second-Generation Proximity Sensor

The Latitude 7320’s second-generation proximity sensor is the most talked-about feature among end customers, according to the company. Called Express Sign-In, it is offered on various Dell laptops, and competitors such as HP have recently released their own versions of the feature to compete with Dell. You are only detected when you are within a few feet of the laptop, at which time it will wake the system, ask the infrared webcam to begin scanning for your face, and instantly sign you in once your face is detected.

In my testing, I discovered that the most recent version of Express Sign-In was more accurate than the previous version I tested on the Latitude 7400 2-in-1 computer in January of this year.

This is especially beneficial when you’re reading through a long text document or just want to take a break from the computer screen to rest your eyes.

Optional features include having the laptop lock and wake up automatically when you walk away, disabling or keeping both of these features active while the Latitude is connected to an external display, and disabling or keeping both of these features active at all times.

All the Requisite Business-Laptop Ports

Since business customers were more likely to plug in monitor and peripheral cables to connect to their office accessories or conference room A/V systems, business laptops originally had more ports than consumer laptops. However, even if many prospective Latitude users are now working from home, the Latitude 7320 2-in-1 still includes all of the connections necessary for a possible return to the workplace when the time comes. A headphone jack and a Thunderbolt 4/USB-C connector are located on the left side of the laptop.

We found that the more powerful adapter was an excellent fit for the upgraded four-cell, 63-watt hour battery in our testing device; standard versions are equipped with three-cell, 42-watt hour batteries.

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.1 are two of the most often used wireless connectivity.

The United States version of the modem is compatible with T-Mobile, AT T, and Verizon networks and requires a physical SIM card to be put into a slot on the right edge.

There is no choice for a 5G modem. The 7320, like the majority of premium Latitude products, is backed by a three-year guarantee. This helps to explain a portion of the price difference between it and comparable consumer laptops, which normally come with a one-year warranty and limited support.

Testing the Latitude 7320: Predictably Speedy Performance

Our Latitude 7320 2-in-1 review unit delivers the kind of processing performance we’d expect from a high-end corporate laptop at a reasonable price. Even without the top-of-the-line Core i7 processor, the system performs admirably in basic office productivity activities and can operate without the need for a power source for nearly a full day. While it is far less capable when it comes to gaming or content production tasks, it might be used as a temporary stand-in computer for some fast photo touch-ups if necessary.

3. We utilize it to evaluate the overall performance of the system when doing office-centric operations such as word processing, spreadsheet jockeying, web surfing, and videoconferencing.
4. The storage subtest of PCMark 8 separates the performance of the laptop’s boot disk from the rest of the system.
5. In terms of the aforementioned content production activity, the results of our Cinebench rendering test indicate that the Latitude 7320 is adequate but not quite as excellent as the AMD Ryzen-equipped EliteBook 845 in terms of performance.
6. The outcome is a proprietary score that indicates a PC’s aptitude for workloads that are computationally taxing.
7. A timer is placed on the test systems while they convert a standard 12-minute piece of 4K video to a 1080p MP4 file; lower (quicker) results are preferred.
8. As an additional test, we perform a bespoke Adobe Photoshop image-editing benchmark.
9. We keep track of the time spent on each procedure and sum it all up.
10. This test puts a strain on the CPU, storage subsystem (RAM), and memory.
11. The Latitude 7320 actually outperforms the Ryzen-equipped EliteBook when it comes to Photoshop, which is a rare occurrence.

Although not very fast, the Latitude 7320 2-in-1’s speed of little more over two minutes is commendable.

Light Gaming, In a Pinch

The results of our gaming simulations, including Superposition and 3DMark, indicate how much of an improvement Intel Iris Xe and AMD Radeon graphics are over the earlier Intel UHD Graphics included in the ThinkPad and EliteBook x360 systems. The Latitude isn’t considerably faster than any of the other Iris Xe or Radeon PCs in this group, but it can still deliver respectable performance in older titles with less demanding GPU requirements, according to our tests. By producing sequences of extremely realistic, gaming-style 3D visuals with an emphasis on particles and lighting, 3DMark assesses the relative strength of a user’s graphics muscle.

• Despite the fact that both are DirectX 11 benchmarks, Sky Diver is better suitable for laptops and midrange PCs, whilst Fire Strike is more demanding and intended for high-end PCs to show off their prowess.
• The Superposition test, like 3DMark, renders and pans over a rich 3D scene, and rates how well the system performs in the process.
• The results are expressed in frames per second (fps).
• It is necessary to do this test by playing back a 720p video clip saved locally at 50 percent screen brightness, 100 percent audio volume, and with Airplane Mode enabled (Wi-Fi off).

Ticks All of the IT Boxes

In many ways, the 7320 2-in-1 is similar to previous Latitude models in that it provides practically everything a large, busy IT department could want in a business laptop. Secure, easily controllable, and although costly, volume discounts may be able to reduce the real cost per unit down significantly. Only a few factors prevent this Latitude from winning an Editors’ Choice award, including its relatively low performance per dollar spent and the unavailability of a 4K screen option on the base model.

If you’re in the market for a tiny convertible and don’t require additional features such as vPro, the XPS 13 2-in-1 is a good choice.

However, despite the fact that the Dell Latitude 7320 2-in-1 is an uncomfortably expensive device, this 13.3-inch convertible remains an attractive option for both business travelers and the IT teams that support them.
