It doesn’t matter if you like beads, booze, boats, or floats – there’s no denying that Gasparilla’s weather is absolutely OMG, pinch-me-perfect. Ye Mystic Krewe had a good time at Ye Captain’s Ball, which took place on January 24 at the Tampa Yacht Club under a bright full moon. Jim Von Thron, an obstetrician and captain, discovered that the full moon coincided with an increase in the number of newborns. Hundreds of well-dressed pirates in elaborate skull-and-bone garb gathered in a massive tent to celebrate the holiday.

As thousands upon thousands of people scavenged for beads, the term “crowdsourcing” took on a whole new meaning.

In terms of corporate tents, Sunset Salsa’s all-inclusive ticket Bayshore block party between Nance Avenue and Albany Street was “the biggest and the greatest,” according to event organizer Chip Fisher, who believes it was “the biggest and the best.” The Distinguished Men of Brass and DJ Arthur Lastra have been rocking the house for decades, and he estimates that up to 1,000 people will attend this year, downing adult beverages and 23 kegs of beer, Joe Diaz’s grilled hot dogs, chicken and pulled pork, and dancing to the music provided by Distinguished Men of Brass and DJ Arthur Lastra.

Eight charity ran beer gardens during the parade, including the Tampa Garden Club, which made a net profit of more than $20,000, according to president Missy Weiner, by selling beer, wine, and parking to the public.

There was an astounding $815 in toilet passes and $1,650 in tips.* The President’s Dinner of the Tampa Jewish Federation According to Cokie Roberts, a political pundit for ABC News and National Public Radio, “My words of wisdom frequently include the phrase “Listen to your mother,” which she shared at the Tampa Jewish Federation’s annual President’s Dinner on Sunday.

Her talkative and smart address disparaged the current divisive politics of Washington, D.C.

and actions,” according to Gould, who described their contributions as “towering.” President Sue Schoenbuam announced a six-month extension of the lease on the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory, as well as stunning architectural renderings of the future Jewish Community Center South, which could be the future home of the city of Tampa’s arts programs division, in a press conference on Tuesday.

  3. What You Don’t Know About Gasparilla

If you’re a native Floridian like myself, you’ll agree that Gasparilla is the most important festival of the year in our city. When the Ye Mystic Krewe hosts a pirate invasion and parade, it turns the end of January into a really special time filled with friends, beads, and drink (if you’re over the age of 21 of course). For those who didn’t grow up in Jose Gaspar’s domain, better known as the pirate who created this havoc, and who are hoping to celebrate Gasparilla this year, I’m going to share a few tips that will make your day that much more memorable.

  1. You’ll undoubtedly question your sanity when you’re strolling down the parade route under the influence of a strong euphoria when you witness all of these men and women wobbling around in ripped up pirate garb with fake blood smeared all over their faces.
  2. The ladies, on the other hand, are perfectly rational and are only seeking for an excuse to drink mimosas in the morning and dress to the nines all day.
  3. Among those getting intoxicated are some of Tampa’s most prominent businessmen, who are also firing off cannons and hitting on females who are young enough to be their own kids.
  4. The Appearance There will be plenty of bandanas, floppy hats, and whatever else people assume pirates wear in the real world, but you are not required to dress in that manner!
  5. However, I strongly advise you to get a blow-up sword from one of the street sellers and engage in drunken dueling with your pals.
  6. If this is not the case, there is no reason to be alarmed just yet.
  7. Willow Street is a residential neighborhood in the city of Chicago.

I’m not sure what all the fuss is about this crossroads, but if you’re strolling and in need of a destination, stop on by and I guarantee you’ll see a familiar face among the throngs.

Everything cancels it out, so at the very least you won’t feel as horrible when you’re nibbling on a shady burger from a roadside food seller.

Unless you want to urinate in public and, thus, risk being arrested, I would advise you to refrain from breaking the seal for as long as you can.

Your SMS or Snapchat will almost certainly not be received because there are more than 10,000 people strolling down Bayshore Blvd.

Given that this is a pirate invasion, I would suppose he or she is out swabbing the deck or walking the plank at this point in time.

A large number of pirates marching along the parade route are hurling them from the floats, or personally delivering them to anybody who approach them closely enough.

It’s also important to remember that these interesting jewels are nothing more than beads.

Salsa del Diablo (Sunset Salsa) It is recommended that you get a ticket to the Sunset Salsa tent if none of the above-mentioned aimless meandering about seems attractive.

This unique tent has live music, up-close-and-personal views of the parade route, and did I mention unlimited food and drink?

What better way to cap off your booze-fueled journey than to take in a spectacular light show in the sky?

Aaarg, that was a lot of fun. This Content Has Been Reported This material has not been approved by Odyssey HQ and only reflects the views and opinions of the author who has not been compensated.

Josette is the winner since she assisted in the creation of my favorite photo of the entire rainy Gasparilla day. The Sunset Salsa Tent was jam-packed with people who were seeking shelter from the downpour. Every year, the annual pirate invasion of Tampa, known as Gasparilla, is a day that Tampa locals look forward to all year. It’s akin to our version of Mardi Gras. In preparation for the invasion of hundreds of pirates who are eager to share their plunder by tossing beads to all onlookers, there are thousands of people who throng the river and the streets, anticipating the invasion (on land and sea).

  • However, during Gasparilla, we decided to stay on the ground and attend the famed Sunset Salsa Tent Party, which was held this past weekend.
  • I’m not sure how the invasion took place in the first place.
  • Together with my friends and family, we had a great time.

Sunset Salsa

Chip Fisher founded Sunset Salsa in 1997 with the goal of producing healthful, fresh, and hand-chopped salsa that was free of chemical preservatives and additives. Nothing has changed in the last 18 years.

All of our products are manufactured, packed, and sent the same week they are ordered from our Tampa, Florida warehouses. Sunset Salsa has subsequently become a well-established handmade food product in the local gourmet grocery shops and restaurants that customers like.

Laurie Schroeder | @laurielivinlife

“Always remain true to yourself. Unless you have the option of being a pirate, always choose to be a pirate.” It’s that time of year again: my favorite season! Gasparilla! Having visited Gasparilla for quite some time (since 2007, to be exact), the festival has always held a particular place in my heart. Not only is it a great opportunity to bring the Tampa Bay community together, but people come from all over the world to attend! Two of my favorite places to hang out before the parade are Daily Eats for a fantastic breakfast (which has become a routine for me) before the celebrations and Water + Flour for a few cocktails before the festivities.

Let’s go catch some beads now!

If you enjoy the concept of gathering your friends, dressing up as pirates, and partying from sunrise to sunset with music, food, and parades, then you’re definitely already planning your participation in this year’s Gasparilla!

An celebration in the Mardi Gras manner was suggested, and when one of the officials suggested that it be centered around a pirate called Gaspar and be ‘pirate-themed,’ everyone was on board!

Usually, my friends and I start the day off with mimosas, Bloody Marys, and a potluck breakfast while we get ready, which is half the fun, in my opinion.

Despite the fact that Tampa might feel like a huge city at times, I appreciate how Gasparilla can give it a small-town ‘homey’ feel.

As a native Tampanian, if I had to identify one event in the Tampa Bay area that elicits unmistakable “feel-good sentiments,” I’d have to choose “Gasparilla” before I could think of anything else.

I’m looking forward to celebrating with the UNATION crew and seeing out their ‘P-ARGH-tyRecovery Experience’ on the day of Gaspy. We look forward to seeing you there!
