Ozark Trail 4-Person Dome Tent : User Manual

MODEL W511.1DOME TENT9′ X 7’ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS MODEL W511.1DOME TENT9′ X 7′ STEP 1: Lay the tent out flat with the floor facing up. Extend the fiberglass frame poles by drawing out each piece and inserting the ends of each segment into the metal ferrule connections (Step 2). You’ll have three poles to work with. The two longer poles serve as tent poles, while the shorter pole serves as a fly pole. THE THIRD STEP: Slide each fiberglass tent pole (A) through the sleeves on the top of the tent’s roof, starting at the center of the tent.

Sleeves along the fiberglass frame pole portions should be straightened.
To raise the tent, repeat the method at the front corners of the tent, flexing the fiberglass poles into an upward position, making two arches, and repeat the process at the back corners.
Locate the fabric ties that are linked to the middle of the tent ceiling and bind them around the tent poles.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE REFER TO THE REPLACEMENT PARTS DIAGRAM TO DETERMINE HOW YOUR FRAME IS ASSEMBLED.
UNZIP THE DOOR TO ALLOW AIR TO ENTER THE TENT IN ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ZIPPER.
It is recommended that you just apply to the underside of the fly and the inside seams of the tent.
Seam sealer may be found in the CAMPING SECTION of any local sporting goods store; however, it is not recommended for use in the water.

STEP 6: Take the tent down.

Make certain that the tent is pulled out evenly and tightly.

STEP 7: Open and unfold the fly.

NOTE: When putting the fly on the tent, make sure that the pole sleeve on the fly is positioned over the front door of the structure.

Keep your body and face free of objects to limit the risk of damage to yourself and others.

Continue to maintain a solid grasp on the hook.

Before releasing the hook, double-check that it is completely clipped to the tent.

If you do not heed this warning, you might suffer a major injury or perhaps become permanently disabled.

Flex the fiberglass fly pole and place each end into the reinforced metalgrommets that are situated on each side of the front entrance on either side of the house.

STEP 10: By using a slider (as illustrated), extend the guy line and create a loop at the other end, which you will then secure with a screwdriver over the stake.

This process should be repeated with the other two man lines.

NOTE: There is a mud mat attached to the tent that should be unfurled in front of the tent door to assist in keeping the tent floor clean and free of debris.

NOTE: To take down the tent, repeat the instructions outlined above in reverse order.

Stakes should be placed in the stake bag and poles should be placed in the pole bag, both of which are provided.

Fold the fly and place it on top of the tent.

To enable air to escape, roll the tent toward the door.

Place the tent, frame, and stakes in a carry bag and set it aside. BEFORE STORING, CHECK TO SEE THAT THE SURETENT IS CLEAN AND DRY. STEP 8:Twist the Velcro fasteners that were sewed to the edge of the fly around the fiberglass tent poles to complete the installation.

Step 6

Wrapping the rain fly around the tent such that the pole sleeve is pointing down against the tent will keep it from becoming caught in the rain. Slide the ridge pole through the pole sleeves until it is completely secure. Flex the ridge pole and insert each end into a grommet that has been included into the rain fly to keep it in place.

Step 7

The S-hooks should be placed in the corners of the rain fly. Pull them all the way down to the tent’s foundation corners and secure them to the pin rings using safety pins. If you are unfamiliar with March in Colorado, it is characterized by unexpected snowstorms and extremely cold nights in the mountains (even though the days are warm).
We arrived at our destination late in the evening, and the next night (about 20 minutes after arriving), we began to experience frozen drops.
I’d like to point out that I also purchased coghlan tent pegs with this tent, which I’d like to mention as well.
We placed a drop cloth (i.e., tarp) and spread out the tent, orienting the door AWAY from the direction of the blowing wind, and staking down two corners to protect it from blowing away during the windy night (the wind now blowing a steady 15 mph according to the wind gage we took along).
Two guys hooked in the tent’s rear corners, while two of us bent the poles into place (which required constructing the tent upright) and hooked them in the tent’s front corners.
After that, we completed staking the tent down and guying out the tent and rainfly, which took about an hour.
We huddled together, lighted a lamp, and were all shivering.

We set up the propane grill inside the tent and soon the temperature inside the tent reached a comfortable level for us to remove our coats.

Put on our jackets, turned down the grill to its lowest setting, and went to sleep.

Snow fell directly off the dome of the tent once it was tapped.

We learned the next morning from a ranger who had been by to see how we were doing that the ridge we were camping on had had gusts of up to 65 mph throughout the night, but that our tent had not been damaged by the storms.

Nevertheless, here’s the reason why I only awarded it 4 and a half stars: The tent’s poles are the source of my greatest dissatisfaction.

More plastic than was necessary was mixed in with the fiberglass in these poles that were included with the package.

During the setup process, one of the guys walked on one of the poles, causing it to shatter.

An inexpensive tent pole repair kit from Coghlan’s made quick work of the problem.

I then went out and bought six of Coghlan’s tent pole repair kits, which I used to construct a new set of poles for myself.

Overall, for the price, the performance, and, as previously stated, the ease of setup and use, as well as the durability in conditions considered more adverse than a tent of this type is designed for, I would recommend this tent to anyone or any family interested in getting into camping and in need of a large tent at a very reasonable price.
