Ozark Trail 4-Person Dome Tent : User Manual

MODEL W511.1DOME TENT9′ X 7’ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS MODEL W511.1DOME TENT9′ X 7′ STEP 1: Lay the tent out flat with the floor facing up. Extend the fiberglass frame poles by drawing out each piece and inserting the ends of each segment into the metal ferrule connections (Step 2). You’ll have three poles to work with. The two longer poles serve as tent poles, while the shorter pole serves as a fly pole. THE THIRD STEP: Slide each fiberglass tent pole (A) through the sleeves on the top of the tent’s roof, starting at the center of the tent.

  1. Sleeves along the fiberglass frame pole portions should be straightened.
  2. To raise the tent, repeat the method at the front corners of the tent, flexing the fiberglass poles into an upward position, making two arches, and repeat the process at the back corners.
  3. Locate the fabric ties that are linked to the middle of the tent ceiling and bind them around the tent poles.
  4. IMPORTANT: PLEASE REFER TO THE REPLACEMENT PARTS DIAGRAM TO DETERMINE HOW YOUR FRAME IS ASSEMBLED.
  5. UNZIP THE DOOR TO ALLOW AIR TO ENTER THE TENT IN ORDER TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ZIPPER.
  6. It is recommended that you just apply to the underside of the fly and the inside seams of the tent.
  7. Seam sealer may be found in the CAMPING SECTION of any local sporting goods store; however, it is not recommended for use in the water.

STEP 6: Take the tent down.

Make certain that the tent is pulled out evenly and tightly.

STEP 7: Open and unfold the fly.

NOTE: When putting the fly on the tent, make sure that the pole sleeve on the fly is positioned over the front door of the structure.

Keep your body and face free of objects to limit the risk of damage to yourself and others.

Continue to maintain a solid grasp on the hook.

Before releasing the hook, double-check that it is completely clipped to the tent.

If you do not heed this warning, you might suffer a major injury or perhaps become permanently disabled.

Flex the fiberglass fly pole and place each end into the reinforced metalgrommets that are situated on each side of the front entrance on either side of the house.

STEP 10: By using a slider (as illustrated), extend the guy line and create a loop at the other end, which you will then secure with a screwdriver over the stake.

This process should be repeated with the other two man lines.

NOTE: There is a mud mat attached to the tent that should be unfurled in front of the tent door to assist in keeping the tent floor clean and free of debris.

NOTE: To take down the tent, repeat the instructions outlined above in reverse order.

Stakes should be placed in the stake bag and poles should be placed in the pole bag, both of which are provided.

Fold the fly and place it on top of the tent.

To enable air to escape, roll the tent toward the door.

Place the tent, frame, and stakes in a carry bag and set it aside. BEFORE STORING, CHECK TO SEE THAT THE SURETENT IS CLEAN AND DRY. STEP 8:Twist the Velcro fasteners that were sewed to the edge of the fly around the fiberglass tent poles to complete the installation.

How to Set Up an Ozark Trail Tent

Ozark Trail tents are lightweight and simple to erect. (Image courtesy of Fotolia.com, courtesy of Alice Rawson’s tent in the woods.) Ozark Trail is a brand of tents that is available for purchase at Walmart shops nationwide. Manufacturers of the tents are hired via a number of organizations, the largest of which being North Pole USA. You can set them up in minutes, even if you have never set up a tent before. They are designed for family and casual camping, and as such, they are simple to erect.

Step 1

Make sure that the area where you will be setting up your tent is level and clear of debris or rocks. Clear away any debris that might penetrate the bottom of your tent’s floor.

Step 2

Lay out all of the components of your tent and double-check that each component is present. To set up the tent body, roll it out and place it so that the door is facing the direction you want it to go and the roof is facing upward.

Step 3

To assemble your tent poles, start by putting them together by snapping the nylon portions into the metal tube connections. Stakes should be threaded through the tent pole sleeves, which are sewed into the seams of the tent body to keep them in place. The tent’s poles should be centered such that it mimics a spider’s web.

Step 4

Each pole should be bent into an arch and secured at the corners of the tent at ground level by inserting the tent pole into the pin ring at the top of the tent pole. To give the tent its form, attach the snap-quick clips to the tent poles using the snap-quick clips.

Step 5

Sweep the interior of the tent to remove any dust, dirt, trash, or leaves that have accumulated. Insert stakes into the pin rings at the tent’s foundation corners and hammer them into the ground to secure the tent in place.

Step 6

Wrapping the rain fly around the tent such that the pole sleeve is pointing down against the tent will keep it from becoming caught in the rain. Slide the ridge pole through the pole sleeves until it is completely secure. Flex the ridge pole and insert each end into a grommet that has been included into the rain fly to keep it in place.

Step 7

The S-hooks should be placed in the corners of the rain fly. Pull them all the way down to the tent’s foundation corners and secure them to the pin rings using safety pins. Ozark Trail 12′ x 10′ Family Dome Tent Reviews

I really like this tent, and I wanted to express what I like about it as well as the few things I don’t like about it. It is well ventilated, as has been said by many others. I utilized a gas grill to heat the interior of my tent (I’ll go into that in a minute), and the ventilation was sufficient to keep fresh air flowing in areas where it was safe to do so. I’ve used other tents in situations where this was not possible, and in the conditions I’m about to describe, you would have been forced to freeze to death.

  1. If you are unfamiliar with March in Colorado, it is characterized by unexpected snowstorms and extremely cold nights in the mountains (even though the days are warm).
  2. We arrived at our destination late in the evening, and the next night (about 20 minutes after arriving), we began to experience frozen drops.
  3. I’d like to point out that I also purchased coghlan tent pegs with this tent, which I’d like to mention as well.
  4. We placed a drop cloth (i.e., tarp) and spread out the tent, orienting the door AWAY from the direction of the blowing wind, and staking down two corners to protect it from blowing away during the windy night (the wind now blowing a steady 15 mph according to the wind gage we took along).
  5. Two guys hooked in the tent’s rear corners, while two of us bent the poles into place (which required constructing the tent upright) and hooked them in the tent’s front corners.
  6. After that, we completed staking the tent down and guying out the tent and rainfly, which took about an hour.
  7. We huddled together, lighted a lamp, and were all shivering.
See also:  How To Fold A Boshen Privacy Pop Up Tent

We set up the propane grill inside the tent and soon the temperature inside the tent reached a comfortable level for us to remove our coats.

Put on our jackets, turned down the grill to its lowest setting, and went to sleep.

Snow fell directly off the dome of the tent once it was tapped.

We learned the next morning from a ranger who had been by to see how we were doing that the ridge we were camping on had had gusts of up to 65 mph throughout the night, but that our tent had not been damaged by the storms.

Nevertheless, here’s the reason why I only awarded it 4 and a half stars: The tent’s poles are the source of my greatest dissatisfaction.

More plastic than was necessary was mixed in with the fiberglass in these poles that were included with the package.

During the setup process, one of the guys walked on one of the poles, causing it to shatter.

An inexpensive tent pole repair kit from Coghlan’s made quick work of the problem.

I then went out and bought six of Coghlan’s tent pole repair kits, which I used to construct a new set of poles for myself.

Overall, for the price, the performance, and, as previously stated, the ease of setup and use, as well as the durability in conditions considered more adverse than a tent of this type is designed for, I would recommend this tent to anyone or any family interested in getting into camping and in need of a large tent at a very reasonable price.

  1. I hope this information is helpful.
  2. It is light enough to be packable (to a fair extent) and durable enough to withstand extreme circumstances that the majority of people would never experience with their vehicles.
  3. There are two points to make about this post: 1.
  4. 2.If you KNOW it’s going to rain for more than 48 hours straight, drape a tarp over the top of the rainfly, as the rainfly can only withstand 48 hours of continuous rain before it begins to leak.

I’m pleased with my tent and will not be hunting for a better one in the near future. Dome style is used in the design. Sleeps a total of 6 or more people. Setup is simple: after becoming familiar with the tent, one person can put it together in less than 8 minutes. $39.98 was the final price paid.

All of the models are rather straightforward to assemble. To put these tents together, all that is necessary is that the tent be laid out flat and the poles be inserted in the appropriate locations. There are also EZ-up tents that are developed specifically for people who are not comfortable putting up tents. Please keep in mind that these tents do not include a footprint, which is a sheet that is placed below the tent to prevent water from entering from underneath. Any form of nylon tarp, on the other hand, should do the work.

Issues with Ozark Trail Tents

It appears that the most prevalent criticism about these tents is that they are not totally waterproof, which is supported by customer evaluations. During a strong downpour, they may have leakage around the seams. Consequently, they are not the ideal option for those who camp in harsh weather conditions such as torrential rain or blizzards. There are a handful of things you can do to improve the insulation of a tent from this brand against the weather, as described below. Before you use the tent, you should spray it with waterproofing spray on the exterior of it.

Once the tent is put up, you should verify that all of the zippers are closed snugly, including those on the windows and porch, if any are there. All rights retained by LoveToKnow Media, Inc. in the year 2022.

Common tent shapes

To gain a sense of the many sorts of tents available, you need first consider the different tent forms accessible. Many of the forms are applicable to a variety of different tent kinds.

Ridge/A-frame tents

When you ask a child to sketch a tent, more often than not, they will draw you a ridge tent – which is fascinating because there aren’t that many of them around these days! Traditionally, they were constructed of a large canvas stretched over a horizontal pole, with a vertical pole at either end to hold it. The guylines and tie-outs, as well as how effectively they were situated, had a significant role in their overall stability. Ridge tents have evolved in recent years, employing lightweight aluminum poles and outer fly sheets made of water-resistant polyester or nylon to keep up with the changes.

Bell tents, on the other hand, are the closest thing you will find to a huge classic ridge tent if you are seeking for something more substantial.

  • Excellent in dealing with rain — there is no pooling on the surface
  • When properly constructed, it can withstand adverse weather conditions. Setup is straightforward
  • Due to a shortage of headroom, the space is not particularly comfortable. Usually, it’s a lot of weight. It’s not that simple to put on a good show

Dome

Dome tents, along with tunnel tents, are among the most widely used types of tents on the market today. Each of the four dome corners is supported by a pair of flexible poles that intersect at the top of the dome and bend to be fastened to the floor at each of the four dome corners. However, in most cases, a rainfly is placed over top of the poles with an inner tent attached to the poles’ underside, rather than on the exterior of the rainfly itself. Many dome tents will feature a small porch area, and other designs may have an additional pole to increase the size of the porch area.

Pros

  • It is inexpensive
  • It is simple to set up and take down
  • Exceptionally light weight
  • A reasonable amount of packing space
  • There is plenty of headroom.
  • Because to the wind and terrible weather, it is not very stable. In bigger sizes, it becomes extremely unstable. Porch/vestibule of limited size

Tunnel tents

These are excellent for big parties and families since they give plenty of headroom as well as a huge amount of living space. They are constructed from a number of flexible poles that are looped from one side of the tent to the other, forming a tunnel shape to which the rainfly may be attached to keep the tent dry.

Compared to dome tents, they rely on guy lines to give stability, and when properly assembled, they can survive severe weather quite well, especially the larger variants compared to dome tents. Pros

  • Simple to assemble and disassemble
  • There is plenty of usable room
  • There is plenty of headroom. Excellent for big gatherings of people
  • Very stable in the wind – especially when pitched intelligently based on the direction of the wind
  • And
  • Heavy – should only be used for automobile camping
  • Heavy rain might cause water to pool on top of the rainfly between the poles, making it difficult to use.

Geodesic tents

Since the invention of the dome tent, designers have been working to improve the fundamental construction in order to make it stronger and better equipped to withstand the weather. The end product is a geodesic tent, which is simply a dome tent but with extra poles on the sides and roof. Generally speaking, the bigger the number of poles that cross each other, the more stable the tent will become. As a result, geodesic tents are more suited for wilderness camping and winter camping than they are for casual automobile camping, as you might expect.

Because of its emphasis on strength and stability, you won’t find many huge geodesic tents on the market, though they are available.

Pros

  • Extremely stable in adverse weather conditions with heavy winds
  • It is long-lasting and well-constructed. There is plenty of headroom. Generally speaking, they are light.
  • Extremely stable in adverse weather conditions and strong winds. It is long-lasting and well-constructed. There is plenty of space above you. Lightweight is the norm

Cabin tents

Cabin tents are often constructed of aluminum poles that are joined together to form the framework of what appears to be a cabin! Rainfly: A waterproof polyester, nylon, or canvas rainfly encases the frame, forming the walls and roof of your cabin, providing a large amount of liveable area in which you can typically stand up. Often separated into rooms by internal partitions, cabin tents are an excellent alternative for family camping. They are often inexpensive, both in terms of price and quality, and they aren’t particularly well-known for their capacity to survive inclement weather.

Pros

  • Spacious and reasonably priced
  • Ideal for families and large parties. You are able to stand up in them.

Pyramid tent

A rainfly is stretched over the top and anchored down at the corners and edges of the fly, and a single central pole is used to hold it all together. In order for pyramid tents to be sturdy, guylines and pegs are essential, and like with ridge tents, the larger the pyramid tent becomes, the less stable it becomes. Many lightweight variants are appearing on the market now that are bordering on tarp-like configurations, but historically they were constructed of thick canvas or hide and supported by massive wooden poles (think tipi and bell tents).

  • It is quite simple to set up. Modern variants might be quite low in weight
  • Yet, When properly pitched, it is quite stable in inclement weather.
  • Because there are no vertical barriers, there is a limited amount of headroom and storage space. They are not often equipped with a built-in groundsheet.
