Gear Review: How to Set Up and Take Down The Coleman Pop-Up Tent « This Boundless World
When it comes to camping, if you’re anything like me, the process of setting up and taking down the tent is the most tedious. So, rather than fumbling with all of those poles and pegs, I made the decision to simplify my camping experience by purchasing a “pop-up tent.” Â The aim is to have a tent that can be set up and taken down in a matter of seconds, allowing you to spend more time relaxing by the fire and drinking whiskey while you’re camping. You can find more pop-up tents than you can shake a stick at on the market; just have a peek at Amazon to see how many there are.
Note that, despite the fact that I am supporting a specific brand (which is something I do not often do), this is NOT a sponsored article.
However, I will provide a link to it so that you may purchase one if you so choose.
POP-UP TENTS ARE.
- My tent was purchased specifically for “car camping,” and I have a separate tent for hiking trips.
- However, the most common difficulty people encounter is in taking them down since the folding of the tent is not always obvious.
- Setting up the Coleman Pop-Up tent is similar to that of most other pop-up tents in that it is packaged as a giant round disk when it is delivered.
- Â Simply throw the un-strapped disk into the air, and it will unfold and grow to its full size.
- TAKING DOWN THE COLEMAN POP-UP TENT: Taking down the Coleman Pop-Up tent is the part of the process that most people struggle with.
- The following are the steps, illustrated with photographs: – Fold up the top portion of the tent, similar to how you would close an accordion.
- – Take hold of the tent’s top and fold it forward twice, as shown.
- – Bring the two circles together.
- – Wrap the strap around the center of the circle once more.
– It should be placed back into the carrying case. – You have completed your task! Okay, that’s all there is to it. Hopefully, it will assist you in packing up your Coleman Pop-Up tent. Initially, it may be difficult, but after a few attempts, you’ll have it down.

However, due to the fact that it is a single-shell tent, there is a significant quantity of moisture accumulating on the interior. Good tent, but.
- It has enough space for two people and is constructed as well as Coleman goods, with the exception of the fact that folding it causes the poles to shatter. I just used it once, and when I attempted to fold it according to the directions, the poles cracked in half along the base of the tent. For the rest of my life, I will not purchase another pop-up tent. I’m currently purchasing hammock tents with bivy sacks. It may be pricey, but it is well worth it. Purchase was verified: Yes|Condition: Brand new
Trying the newer style tent
- I haven’t tried it outside yet. The grandkids have liked it while it is open inside. I’m going to assume it’s waterproof. The concept is appealing to me. I would have preferred spring steel supports, but if the fiberglass ones hold up over the long haul, I’ll be just as happy with them. Coleman items have always provided me with a positive experience. When it comes to this product, time and usage will tell the tale. Thanks Purchase has been verified: Yes|Condition:New
Awesome
- In a single word, fantastic. All of the other campers are envious of you. It’s the simplicity that appeals to those like myself who don’t camp. I’m thinking of getting a four-person boat for a trip where I’ll need a bit extra space for stuff. Purchase was verified: Yes|Condition: Brand new
Watch out!
- I removed the elastic tape that had been wrapped around the circular, folded tent. Only to have the tent burst out into my face and hit me across the cheek with its poles. If it had been a youngster who had opened it, it would have been far more painful. Yes, the purchase has been verified. Condition:New
Tents are now the best-selling item on the slide show.
Amazon.com: Customer reviews: Coleman 4-Person Pop-Up Tent, Green
I have conflicting emotions about this. We were given the four-person version. It’s by far the easiest tent I’ve ever set up, and while it’s a little difficult to take down at first, it’s simple after you’ve done it a couple of times. In addition to being attractive, it is long enough to accommodate a tall person sleeping comfortably. However, because it is so tiny, I can’t image four or even three people sleeping peacefully in this thing. So here are the major issues: One major complaint is that the entrance zipper is quite thin and appears to have the potential to rip quickly, especially once the tent has been staked down and inhabited.
- It’s probably more convenient for casual car campers than attempting to haul that behemoth around everywhere.
- Upon further investigation, it was discovered that there have been reports of vapor inhalation and skin transference when sleeping in or erecting tents that include those chemicals in the fabric, with suggestions to wear gloves when assembling and avoid using the rain fly.
- If you do decide to purchase this tent, here’s a quick tip: use caution if you’re opening it indoors or with people standing nearby because it can pop up extremely quickly.
- I’d assumed I’d have enough room for it and that I’d be psychologically prepared, but I’m quite sure I wet my pants a bit during the hubbub anyway.
How to Take Down a Pop Up Canopy
Once your pop-up canopy is fully assembled, just reverse the process to take it apart again. A conventional 10×10-foot canopy or smaller is simple to erect with two people, however it is possible to erect one by yourself as well (much more annoying).
If you have a canopy that is significantly larger than normal, it might be exceedingly difficult to pull it down by yourself. Some pop-up canopies are easier to put up and take down than others.
Overview
Steps to take down a pop-up canopy are outlined below, and they should be applicable to the majority of models (as usual, refer to your instruction manual for exact details):
- Clear the space under your canopy of any equipment lying on the ground or decorations hanging from the ceiling
- Everything that was utilized to anchor the canopy to the ground (such as tie lines or weight sacks) should be removed. Reduce the height of the legs to their lowest possible position. The canopy cover can be removed from the frame for storage at this time if necessary (see Figure 1)
- However, it is not the most convenient time to do so. Disengage the sliding mechanism on each of the four corners (as shown in Figure 2). (a) If you have at least two individuals to assist you, stand on opposite sides of the canopy and take it up by the truss bars from the ground. The frame canopy will automatically collapse as you and your partner walk towards each other. Embrace and raise the frame, then carefully place it in the travel bag.
In order to lower the legs, it’s best to unhook any clips or straps that are attached to the truss bars (see Figure 1). Figure 2 depicts the sliding mechanism in action.

How to Fold Up a Pop Up Tent
Documentation Download Documentation Download Documentation A surprising number of individuals utilize pop-up tents as quick and simple shelters, but discover that folding the tent is an unanticipated headache. Folding the tent poles together and then over each other is the best method for storing it. Using this method, you can collapse the tent into a circle that can be stored in a bag until you need it again. With a little understanding of tent folding procedures, you’ll be able to store your tent until you need it again.
- 1 Before you begin folding the tent, clean it well. In most cases, shaking out dirt, sand, and pine needles is all that’s required of you. Despite the fact that you can try again later, the debris may become lodged in the tent folds. Tip the tent to the side to allow the debris to drain. When you have the opportunity, thoroughly clean the tent using a little amount of powdered laundry detergent and a damp towel.
- Never put away a wet tent, otherwise you’ll wind up with mold on your hands
2Fold the top two poles together to form a triangle. Place yourself next to the tent. The poles are the ridges on top of the tent to your left and right that go parallel to the ground. Extend your arms to grab both sides and bring them together at the same time. Third, fold the two poles at the bottom of the frame together. The tent’s outside boundaries are formed by the bottom poles, which now protrude to the left and right of the tent’s center pole.
You’ll have to find a way to get to both of them. Fold one of the bottom poles up and over one of the top poles to create a v-shape. Repeat the process with the other bottom pole to ensure that all four poles are held together.
4Turn the tent so that it is on its side. The folded tent has the appearance of a large taco. Continue to hang on to the four tent poles as you turn the tent on its side to the other side. Adjust the position of the taco form so that the open side of the taco shape touches the ground. 5 Fold the top poles over to the back of your hand. You’ll have to stretch your hands out once more to complete the task. Reach out over the highest portion of the tent while holding the four poles together. Grab the rear of the taco form with one hand and pull it down to the other with the other.
- You won’t require more than a minimal amount of force to draw the tent down because of the lightweight nature of the poles. The poles are also flexible, making it unlikely that they would break.
You won’t require more than a minimal amount of force to draw the tent down because of the lightweight poles. In addition, because the poles are flexible, they are less prone to break.
- 1 Before folding the tent, shake it to remove any particles. Before you put the tent away, make sure it’s completely clean. Turn it over and shake off any dirt or sand that has become trapped within. With a little water and a hose or a towel, you can clean the tent up well after that. If you don’t have time to deal with stubborn stains right away, you may put the tent away and complete the task at home.
- When washing away difficult stains, a small amount of powdered detergent might be beneficial.
2 Grab the tent’s sides with both hands. Position yourself in front of the tent’s entrance. The tent pole that runs from side to side above the entrance is the one that is closest to you. Grab hold of both edges of the tent with both hands. If the door has a cover on it, you should leave it open.
- Beach tents are often smaller in size than conventional tents, and they do not have poles running across the width of the tent as do regular tents. In addition, if you’re still having difficulties folding any other tent, you may try this method.
3Fold the tent’s sides together to form a square. The tent should be pulled in one direction toward the center, then pushed flat on the ground. While you’re holding it down, move the other side across and place it on top. It should now be in the shape of an oval. Fourfold the tent and flatten it flat against the ground. Turn the tent so that it is resting on its side. Push down on the middle of this edge with your fingers. As you flatten the tent, it will take on the shape of a figure-8. To assist in guiding the tent to the ground, you might place one hand on either side of the tent.
Keep your hands on the tent!
The tent should be picked up from one side and then carried over to the other side.
While you’re doing this, you may rest one leg on the tent to ensure that you don’t lose your hold.
- Because the poles are extremely flexible, there is no need to be concerned about them breaking.
6Disassemble the tent and put it away. Alternatively, if the tent came with an elastic band, you may use it to keep it in place. Place the tent in its carrying bag. Any poles that are protruding out should be tucked in, and the bag should be closed until you are ready to use the tent again. Advertisement Create a new question
