In early 2010, work on the game began, with many of the major creators from the previous game contributing to its creation. It incorporates updated elements from the previous game, such as fast-paced combat and a customisable “Paradigm” system, as well as new elements.

There is extensive use of time travel in the new game’s narrative, which allows players to hop between different time periods while being in the same place.
