For the past many years, I’ve participated in weeklong camps alongside a variety of different campers, both experienced and new to the sport. Because our settings offer insufficient cover, the majority of our tents are exposed to the sun during the day. Grommets should be installed every 2 feet, in my opinion.

My shade cloth is staked to the ground and the tie-downs are secured with a little carabineer (dollar store) that I purchased for this purpose.

When the wind blows hard, the cloth around the grommet might be ripped.

I also learnt how tie off the support poles approximately 4 feet down from the top of the shade cloth to a 3-point anchor, which I used for the first time.

During a windstorm, the 3-point anchor made a significant difference in keeping the shade tarp in place.

We modified our trailer so that we could attach our shade cloth to it for stability, while also leaving enough space between the trailer and tent shade to keep coolers cooler during the hot summer months.

The importance of quality cannot be overstated.

Tension is extremely important; the shade cloth must be pulled taut at all times.

As we tightened the strain, the occurrences became less frequent.

Shade cloth is effective at shading, but it is not effective at protecting your “stuff” from the elements.

The only drawback to my fly is that it is really heavy — it weighs around 200 pounds.
